Sharing Things Safely

Let the right people see the right things — without ever giving up your privacy.

What sharing means in Fyldit

Sometimes you need to give a document to someone — your tax forms to your accountant, your travel insurance to a family member, a will to your lawyer. With Fyldit, you can do this in a way that's safer than email, simpler than printing, and private from start to finish.

Think of it like handing them a locked box that only they have the key for. You stay in control, and only the people you choose can open it.

What you can share

  • A single document (like a PDF or photo)
  • A whole folder of related items
  • A "pack" — a curated bundle you put together
  • A secure note

How to share, step by step

1

Pick what you want to share

Find the document, folder, or pack in your vault. Tap the “Share” button.
2

Choose who gets it

Pick people from your contacts, or add their email if they're new. You can share with one person or several at once.
3

Send it

That's it. They'll get a friendly email letting them know something's waiting. If they don't have a Fyldit account, they'll be invited to create one (it's free) so they can safely open it.

Always end-to-end private

When you share something, Fyldit reseals it just for that person. Nobody else — including us — can read it. If you stop sharing later, they immediately lose access.

Receiving something shared with you

When someone shares a document with you, you'll see it in your “Shared with me” section. You'll need to be signed in and have your Master Key handy — that's how we know it's really you.

Once opened, you can view it, save a copy to your own vault, or simply leave it there. The owner decides how long you have access.

Staying in control

  • See all your active shares in one place
  • Stop sharing anytime — they lose access right away
  • Edit who's included, or add more people
  • Know exactly what they can and can't do

And what they can't do, ever:

  • See anything else in your vault
  • Pass it on to someone else through Fyldit
  • Edit your original copy

Common questions

Is sharing really safer than email?
Yes — by a long way. Email attachments can be forwarded, copied, and sit in servers forever. Fyldit shares are locked, only openable by the chosen person, and can be stopped anytime.
What if I share with the wrong person by mistake?
Just open your sharing list and stop it. They lose access immediately — even if they hadn't opened it yet.
Does the person I share with need to pay?
No. Receiving a share is free. They just need a Fyldit account (also free) so we can keep the share private.
Can they download what I share?
Yes, like any document. Once they have a copy on their device, it's theirs — but you can still stop their Fyldit access anytime.
What about my Legacy Circle — is that the same as sharing?
Not quite. Sharing happens now, while you're using Fyldit. Your Legacy Circle is about who inherits which documents one day — they only get them when the moment comes.
