Contacts & Circles

Your people, organised — so the right ones are there at the right moment.

Contacts vs. Circles — what's the difference?

Contacts are like your address book inside Fyldit. They're simply the people you might want to do something with — share a document, invite into a circle, leave something to one day.

Circles are special groups of contacts with a job. Fyldit has two: the Trusted Circle (people who help you stay safe) and the Legacy Circle (people who inherit things from you).

Your two circles, explained simply

The Trusted Circle — your “helpers”

These are the friends and family you trust most. They help you back into your vault if you ever forget your Master Key, and — one day — they'll let Fyldit know when the time has come so your wishes can be honoured.

Common picks: spouse, adult children, parents, lifelong friend, attorney.

The Legacy Circle — your “heirs”

These are the people you want to leave specific documents to. Maybe your will goes to your attorney, your insurance papers go to your spouse, your photos go to your kids — you choose, document by document.

They can't see your vault while you're alive. Their inheritance only arrives when the time comes.

Adding someone, step by step

1

Add them as a contact

Open the “Contacts” or “People” area of Fyldit. Tap “Add” and pop in their name and email. They don't need a Fyldit account yet — we'll invite them when needed.
2

Choose their role

From their contact card, you can invite them into your Trusted Circle (to help you), your Legacy Circle (to inherit), or both. They'll get a friendly email asking them to accept.
3

They accept

When they accept, they'll be asked to make a free Fyldit account if they don't already have one. That's all they need to do — no work, no peeking, no responsibility today.

Can someone be in both circles?

Absolutely. Most people put their spouse or partner in both — a helper while you're alive, and an heir for one day. You can pick any combination that feels right to you.

What your contacts can and can't see

  • Just a contact? They'll only know they're in your address book if you invite them into a circle or share something with them.
  • In your Trusted Circle? They'll know they're one of your trusted people. They can't see your documents while you're alive.
  • In your Legacy Circle? They'll know they've been added. They can't see which documents are set aside for them until the moment comes.

Common questions

Can I remove someone later?
Yes — anytime. Open the contact, tap remove from circle, and they'll no longer have that role. Their contact card stays unless you delete it.
What if my contact doesn't use Fyldit yet?
That's fine. We'll send them an invite to create a free account when they need one. No charge, no commitment.
How many people can I add?
As many as you like in your address book. Most people choose three to five for each circle — small enough to feel personal, big enough to be safe.
Will they know who else is in my circles?
No. Each person only knows about their own role. Your circle membership is private.
