Why we can't see your stuff
The big promise of Fyldit, explained like a story — not a science lesson.
Imagine a locked briefcase
Picture this: you have a briefcase with a special lock that only you have the key for. You put your most precious papers inside, snap it shut, and hand it to a courier to keep safe in their warehouse.
The courier can hold it, move it, deliver it back to you on demand. But they can't look inside. Not because we made them promise — because they literally can't. Only your key opens it.
That's exactly how Fyldit works. Your documents are locked on your device before they ever reach us. We hold the locked briefcase. You hold the only key.
What “Zero-Knowledge” means
“Zero-Knowledge” is just a fancy way of saying: we have zero knowledge of what's in your vault. None. We've built Fyldit so that even our own engineers cannot see what you save — and neither can hackers, governments, or anyone else who might want to look.
How it works, in 3 simple steps
1. Your personal key
When you sign up, you create a Master Key. It never leaves your device. It's yours alone, made up from a phrase you choose.
2. Locked on your device
Whenever you save a document, your phone or laptop locks it up with your Master Key — right there, before anything is sent. Only locked, scrambled data ever reaches our servers.
3. Safely stored
We keep your locked documents safe and ready. Without your Master Key they look like total nonsense — there's nothing to peek at.
The honest trade-off
Because we never see your Master Key, we can't reset it for you. This isn't a flaw — it's the entire point. It means:
- No Fyldit employee can ever access your stuff, even if forced to try
- A data breach exposes only nonsense — never your real files
- Your privacy is guaranteed by maths, not by trust
That's why we built Trusted Circle Key — your circle holds a spare key together, so you can never be locked out, while we stay completely in the dark.
Why this matters for you
True privacy
Your documents remain private even from us. We couldn't read them if we wanted to.
Built to survive a breach
If our servers were ever broken into, attackers would only find scrambled data — useless without your personal Master Key.
No backdoors
There's no secret master switch. Not for us, not for governments, not for anyone. Your key is the only key.
Bank-grade protection
Fyldit uses the same kind of protection trusted by banks, hospitals and governments — the strongest there is. We just put it in plain English.
