Recovery, the Fyldit way

We can't reset your Master Key — that's the whole promise of Fyldit. So instead, we built something kinder: your Trusted Circle.

When you switch on Trusted Circle Key, the small group of people you trust quietly holds a spare key for you. If you're ever locked out, they can let you back in — and only when enough of them say yes.

We always pause for a little while and tell you everywhere, so only you can really come back. If something looks off, one tap stops it.

How it goes, step by step

Start your recovery

Visit the sign-in page and choose “Get back in with your Trusted Circle.” We'll email you a short code to confirm it's you.

We ask your circle

Your Keyholders are notified one by one in the app. They each open the request, see who's asking, and quietly approve with their own Master Key.

A short safety pause

We wait a little while — a full day — and tell you in every way we can reach you. If you didn't start the request, one tap stops it for good.

You're back in

When the pause ends and your circle has helped, you set a new Master Key right there. We re-arm your Trusted Circle Key automatically so you're covered for next time.

If you set up with four Keyholders

With four Keyholders we'll have shown you a personal Backup Code at setup time and asked you to keep it somewhere safe. You enter it on the recovery page alongside your circle's help. With five or more Keyholders, there's nothing extra to remember.

On a free plan?

Trusted Circle Key is part of every trial and paid plan. On a free plan, your only way back in is your Master Key. Upgrade any time to turn it back on in a couple of taps.

Common questions

What if I don't have a Trusted Circle Key set up?▾
We strongly recommend setting one up today. Without it, your Master Key is the only way in — and we genuinely cannot recover it for you, by design. Set one up in your dashboard before you ever need it.
How long does recovery take?▾
Usually a full day, sometimes a little more depending on how quickly your Keyholders respond. The wait is intentional — it keeps you safe from anyone trying to recover your vault in your name.
Can someone else start recovery in my name?▾
They can try, but you'll know instantly — by email, in the app, and through your Keyholders. One tap from you stops the whole thing.
What if I've lost the Backup Code AND forgotten my Master Key?▾
As long as you have five or more Keyholders, you don't need the Backup Code. If you have four and lost the code, contact our support team — we'll explain what's possible.
